WhatsApp is working on the Translate Chat Messages and Channel updates feature. It will automatically translate messages into a different language. It also provide the ability to decide whether the app should automatically translate all new chat messages in the future.
They will be able to break language barriers and communicate seamlessly with other contact or people who speak different languages with the ability to translate a selected message or enable automatic translation for all new messages on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp Translate Chat Messages
The meta-owned messaging app is exploring the additional refinements for the new feature to automatically translate chat messages and channel updates. The translation feature is designed to process entirely on the user’s device without sending any data to third-party or even on their own servers.
It ensures that the new translate chat messages feature also maintain the end-to-end encryption to secure and keep the messages private. The translations process will work offline so users have to download a language packs in advance. Once the language pack is downloaded on the users’ device then translation will be processed locally on the device and they can work even without internet connection.
One of the important things is to note that the meta-owned messaging app has emphasized that translation generated using local language packs should be regarded as indicative rather than fully accurate. This will happen because the translation process offline using pre-downloaded data so, occasional error or inaccuracies may happen.
The translation feature and channel updates feature is currently under development. However, the Meta-owned messaging app will soon roll out the translate messages and channel updates for beta users on Android.
