There are several reasons why you may need to recover your WhatsApp photos, and also your videos, either because you have deleted them by mistake or you want to have an old image back in your gallery. If this is your case, you can rest easy to some extent, since there are different ways to get them before giving up on everything.

A huge number of images are sent via WhatsApp every day, which ends up taking up a significant amount of space in the phone’s storage, so everyone has time to make room in their memory. It may happen that later you end up realizing that there were photos that you didn’t want to delete, so it’s important to know the methods available to us.

Restore Backup The Easiest Method

One of the most useful features of WhatsApp is the backup, as it allows you to recover all your conversations, photos, videos, and other files when you change your phone or on your current phone because you have deleted items by mistake or formatted the device. It is true that it takes some time, but it is the most effective solution there is. The backup is stored periodically, either

daily, weekly, or monthly, but if you have disabled it at some point, this trick will not work for you. Here are the steps to restore the backup and recover deleted photos from WhatsApp photos whatsapprecover deleted photos whatsapprecover deleted photos whatsapprecover deleted photos WhatsApp

  1. Open the app on your mobile.
  2. Select the 3 dots that appear at the top right of the screen.
  3. Access settings.
  4. Tap on the Chats option.
  5. Look for Backup among the bottom functions.
  6. The latest WhatsApp backup will appear here if there is one. Be careful, it is very important not to click Save or you will lose the photos you have deleted.
  7. If yes, please uninstall and install WhatsApp again.
  8. Open the app again and after entering your number a backup search will be performed.
  9. Press Restore when it appears and wait for the process to complete.

The WhatsApp photos you deleted should now appear as normal in your Gallery. If they are not there, try searching for the image in the corresponding conversation and tap Download to get it back.

Check Android Files

One solution you may have completely overlooked is the possibility that the photo is still on your phone, but it doesn’t appear in the conversation because you deleted it. Here it’s important not to have checked the box to delete the file from the gallery as well, as this is the only way for it to remain among the images. To check if it is among the files on the device, do the following: recover deleted photos whatsapprecover deleted photos whatsapprecover deleted photos WhatsApp.

  1. Open the Google Files app or My Files on other systems.
  2. Tap on Internal phone storage.
  3. Select the Android folder and then the com. Whatsapp folder.
  4. Access WhatsApp – Media – WhatsApp Images.

In the case of iPhone, photos cannot be accessed from the Apple Files app. Images downloaded from WhatsApp on iPhone are not stored on the phone, but the Save to Photos option must be enabled in the app settings for them to be saved in the gallery.

Other Ways to Recover WhatsApp Photos and Videos

If none of the above has helped you, don’t lose your cool. There are still other alternatives that may be less effective or take a little more time, but you shouldn’t overlook them if you want to recover a deleted WhatsApp photo.

Download the File Again

If you have deleted the photo from your gallery and it is recent, WhatsApp allows you to recover the image by simply downloading it again from the corresponding conversation. Sometimes this does not work, although you do not lose anything by trying your luck if you deleted it less than 24 hours ago. Once you have located it, just tap on the photo to start the download and it will be stored again in your device’s gallery.

Tell the Other Person to Send It Again

Before you go crazy restoring the backup or taking other measures, wouldn’t it be easier to tell the person in question to resend the images? Maybe you deleted photos from a party with your friends by mistake and any of them can send them to you without any problem. This is the fastest and most effective alternative there is to recover WhatsApp photos without having to do anything at all.

Root Your Phone to Access the Files on Your Device

The most extreme solution is to root the phone to access the most hidden files on the device. After deleting a photo on WhatsApp, it is possible to recover it through certain deleted file search applications, but there is a drawback and that is that to use them you have to root the phone and this is not an option that everyone likes.

In addition, it will take longer than the rest of the previous alternatives and if there are errors during the process there is a possibility that the smartphone will be out of action. Also, even if the procedure is successful, you should know that you will instantly lose the warranty on the phone if it is still valid, so weigh the consequences calmly and whether it is worth taking the risk to recover the photo. Apps like TrashDigger are very easy to use and are very effective data recovery tools.

You can download it for free and after scanning your device for files with the Deep Scan feature it will show you every one of the files you have deleted, including WhatsApp photos. To recover it, simply select the file(s) if there are several and press the Start Recovery button.

The process will take a while, so leave your phone charging to prevent it from turning off in the middle of the download. The images should appear again in your gallery after finishing.
