Install watchOS 11

Before you can pause Activity Rings on your Apple Watch, ensure you have watchOS 11 installed. The update is available for Apple Watch Series 6 and newer, Apple Watch SE (2022), and Apple Watch Ultra models. To install watchOS 11, ensure your Apple Watch has at least 50% battery life. The WatchOS 11 update will take about up to an hour to install on your Apple watch. After installation, you’re ready to manage your Activity Rings.

How to Pause Activity Rings on Apple Watch

To Pause the moving rings, you have to open the Activity app on your Apple Watch, once you have updated your watch to watchOS 11. To pause the rings:

  1. Open the Activity app.
  2. Tap on your Activity Rings.
  3. Now you will see two options “Pause Rings” and “Change Goals” once you tap on the Activity Rings.

By tapping on the “Pause Rings” option you can choose how long you want to pause the rings. Options include pausing for a day, week, or month. You can also set a custom duration by scrolling down and tapping “Custom.” This flexibility allows you to adjust the time frame as per your need. When you are ready, simply tap your rings again to resume tracking on your Watch.

Customizing Your Activity Goals

If you don’t just want to pause your Activity Rings but also want to adjust your goals, you can change them in a few simple steps. After tapping on your Activity Rings:

  1. Tap on “Change Goals.”
  2. Adjust your Move, Exercise, and Stand goals using the plus (+) and minus (-) icon.
  3. Tap “Set” to save each goal.

This is useful if you want to lower your goals during a break or increase them after resuming regular activity.

Resuming Activity Tracking

If you want to restart your Activity Rings earlier than planned, just open the Activity app and tap on your rings. This will turn tracking back on, and you’ll start earning credits toward your activity goals again. However, while the rings are paused, you won’t lose your streaks.

The ability to pause Activity Rings on your Apple Watch is a long-requested feature by users. It allows users to manage their health goals more effectively, especially during illness or travel. While paused, your streaks stay intact, so you don’t miss out on awards or badges.

The Final Words

The new Apple watchOS 11 update gives you control over your Apple Watch Activity Rings. Whether you’re unwell or unable to exercise, you can now pause your rings without losing your streaks.

Make sure you update to watchOS 11 and take advantage of this feature to keep your activity on track, even when life gets in the way.
